Privatizing

Hello family and friends......... and those I don't know but look at my blog anyways.... :)

I have decided to make my blog private for many reasons- the most important being that I do not like the idea of ANYONE having a peek into my life and my kids' lives. I guess I could start editing my content- not make it so personal, and limit the types of pictures I post.....but, honestly, I don't want to. This was a way to stay connected to family and friends near and far... I want to feel comfortable posting anything about what is going on in our lives.

The blog will turn private in a week .... If you would like access to the blog please email me at.....

nate.lover@hotmail.com

I will take your email address and add it to the list of people allowed into the blog.

We love you and look forward to posting again.!!

My Meggy Mine

I laid Meg down on a blanket to stretch and when I came back, she had been gobbled up by blankets- courtesy of Lilly and her newfound motherly instincts ("Meggy's cold mom!")- It looks like Megan might be saying "Holla!"
Meg has yet to fuss, whimper, or cry when it comes to taking a bath. I think she would stay in there until the water was ice cold. She is so much fun to play with and it is yet another reason for Lilly to 's-mother' her.
Last week Megan had her 2-month doctor's appointment. Here are her stats..
11 pounds 11 ounces,
23 inches long,
and almost 15 1/2 inches around her head...
the appointment was complete with 5 shots adminustered in her two little darling thighs :(

Weekend at Nana and PaPa's

Lilly getting her hair highlighted- Rachel cut it into a bob too- I'll post an 'after' picture later.
(inner monologue)- "no pictures please... no i have no comment at this time!"
Quality time with Papa is not easy to come by....

Stranger Danger

Lilly and I were watching the movie Madeline (the one with real people). Madeline and her friend Pepito are kidnapped by 'mean guys'. Lilly asked me what was happening and I saw the opportunity to talk to her about strangers and always staying by mom in stores etc. etc. The conversation went something like this.....

Lilly: What's happening mom?

me: Those mean men took Madeline and Pepito.

Lilly: Away from her mommy?

me: yes. That's what happens if you don't stay by your mommy-- the mean people will take you and you will never see your mommy again.

(Lilly paused before responding to think about what I had just said)

Lilly: Not Uh MOM! No they won't.

me: yes Lilly- that's what will happen.

Lilly: Naww... 'cause I'll shoot 'em!

me: No Lil'- you're too little to fight the bad people. You can't shoot them.

Lilly: Yes I can! Daddy showed me huh!? Like this ... (imitating shooting a gun)

END OF CONVERSATION

Happy Valentine's Day.... barely

Ah yes, Valentine's Day being married sure is different from what I remember it being when we were dating.... so Nate and I went out for a lovely dinner Wednesday night and .... I guesss he thought that was it..... so come the next day, I teased him that he had not got me a valentine expressing his undying love for me etc. etc. etc.... At precisely 8:58 pm, the youth from church gave him call, informing him they had a basketball game that night at 9:00 (he's the coach) So off he goes to coach the boys and he comes back with what is pictured.......
you may be sitting there with the same reaction i was when he gave it to me...."What is that?"- was my thought. Upon further observation i realize it is a cut off rose, inside a balloon, attached to a plastic base...... in short, it was the last thing on the shelf in walmart at 10:00 pm. we were both laughing so hard, we started crying...... but there was more.....
Nate bought us a treadmill earlier this month to get into shape... there has been non stop complaints relating to the songs i have on my ipod (which apparently now is community property) - so he tries to pass this iTunes giftcard off as a gift to me.... of which he has already been feverish to start spending to his own liking. hmp.... the whole ordeal was sooo funny. it was the best laugh we have had in a long time- and that memory was the best gift of all.
i love you nate!

Random Moments

Meg's favorite spot to nap would be, next to the dishwasher, next to me while blowdrying my hair, or anywhere within hearing distance of the dryer...
aw... my little treasures
the other day, Nate was watching the girls while i ran some errands, he had taken this picture of Lilly collapsed on the floor in between the couch and the coffee table. She slept for over an hour just like this.... (note: baby in background is not Megan.)

Ta-Da!

...and it's official, i am a big show off. i love being the mother of two and having a baby is even sweeter than i remember. the season is a shame but all the same, when i do go out, i can't help but want to show off our new edition to everyone. i didn't send birth announcements for Lilly and now i regret it so much- this one is for all those that didn't get one in the mail.

'LOVE"ly Cookies

After making a decorationg Lilly's cake, I was presumably in the mood for some more baking. I have attempted the "homemade sugar cookies and icing" but it has always proven that I suck at it. I found a quick and easy recipe for both on line and they were smashing if I do say so myself- I think Nate's words were, "Those cookies really hit the spot."
Cookies:
3 cups flour
1 cup sugar
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup butter
1 egg, slightly beaten
3 Tablespoons cream
1 teaspoon vanilla ( I used almond extract )
Icing:
1/3 cup crisco
1 pound powdered sugar
1/4 cup milk
1 teaspoon vanilla
1. Sift dry ingredients, cut in butter and add other ingredients. Blend thoroughly and chill for several hours.
2. Using a roling pin, roll dough on floured board (best to use 2/1 ratio of flour/sugar- 4 Tbls. flour 2 Tbls. sugar) between wax paper. Roll out to about a 1/4 inch thickness. Cut out and put on silpat or greased cookie sheet. Bake 5-8 minutes at 400*.
3. Mix icing ingredients together until smooth. Separate into different bowls, add food coloring... etc etc.. you can guess the rest.

Party Animal

After a 2 hour nap, the birthday girl was ready to party.
Gift opening brought us a barbie car, new barbie clothes, princess accessories, a lite brite, and a super cool wagon from Grandma and Grandpa.
Calico Critters table and lots of accessories from Nana and PaPa
CD player and music from mom and dad.
.. and eating her cake too.

Life is Delicious

Four layers, homemade buttercream frosting, and lovingly decorated by mom (me)
Lilly had picked out Strawberry Shortcake plates, cups, party hats, and balloons, so I decided to attempt a strawberry on top of the cake with the cake decorating kit my Aunt Debbie gave me for Christmas a couple years ago. It was so much fun!
Lilly is lucky to share her birthday with her Aunt Stacy.
